In a bizarre collaboration that breaks traditional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Uncovered

According to the official release, "A mysterious encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of banned practices and terrifying transformations reverberate through the darkness." The plot features a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden sect.

The questline centers on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Changes

The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Bonus Material

Players who finish the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana together with multiple objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally included a quest that unmistakably echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
